Tree Goo by Ayelet Shastél

Ayelet Shastél’s work focuses on the relationships between aspects of matter - speed and slowness, attraction and repulsion, disintegration and reformation. 
 
Ayelet forages for materials in nature as well as in the city, and uses traditional methods to extract their pigments. At the foundation of her process is a “slowing down”. This helps her to observe and recognize the essence of matter that she then transmits onto paper. 
 
In her work, what might seem at first glance random and chaotic behaviour of particles, is actually, perfect order. These separate particles echo the source from which they are derived, and come together in the creation of a new whole.
